ROLLER vs Waiveon
A venue suite that replaces your till, or waivers and check-in on the till you already have.
ROLLER replaces the point of sale and sells the waiver as an add-on, priced by quote. Waiveon keeps the Shopify POS you already run: the waiver is signed on the visitor's phone, matched to the order, and checked at the door, for a flat monthly price, from the day it is installed. Shopify does the selling, from the till to the online store; Waiveon does the waiver and the gate.
Side by side
| Topic | Waiveon | ROLLER | Why it matters |
|---|---|---|---|
| What it is | WaiveonDigital waivers, order matching and check-in for venues that sell through Shopify POS. Shopify sells the ticket; Waiveon makes sure the person holding it has signed. | ROLLEROne platform to run a venue: online ticketing, its own point of sale, memberships, party bookings, and food and beverage, with waivers as an add-on. | Why it mattersYou add the waiver and the gate to the store you already run, rather than moving the whole venue onto a new platform to get them. |
| Price | WaiveonFree covers 25 signings a month. Standard is $79 a month with no signing limit, billed through your Shopify account. The price is on the pricing page, not in a quote. | ROLLERQuote-only: four plans (Lite, Pro, Premium and Enterprise), priced after a conversation with ROLLER's team. Waivers are marked as priced separately on Lite, Pro and Premium. | Why it mattersYou know the cost before you speak to anyone, and it stays the same whether the venue signs two hundred waivers a month or five thousand. |
| Waivers | WaiveonOn both plans: a kiosk, a permanent link and QR code, a one-line website embed, and a guardian signing for the minors in their group on the same form. | ROLLERAn add-on to a ROLLER subscription. Guests sign on their phone or at a self-serve kiosk, from an emailed or texted link or a QR code poster, and the waiver is stored with their booking. | Why it mattersThe waiver is the product, not an add-on: it is included on Free, and the signing page works from the day the app is installed. |
| Point of sale | WaiveonShopify POS stays. Waiveon reads its orders and products, read-only. Waiveon reads orders from your Shopify store and connects it to nothing else. | ROLLERROLLER's own, on every plan, with a set number of till or kiosk devices per plan and a charge for each device beyond it. | Why it mattersNo new hardware, no retraining the desk, and no device count to watch: every register you have today keeps working. |
| Check-in | WaiveonOne code per person. The desk scans it and sees the waiver, the order and the pass together: green, amber or red, with the reason spelled out. | ROLLERA mobile check-in app for scanning guests at entry, sold as an add-on, and gates and turnstiles through third-party integrations. | Why it mattersCheck-in is included, and one scan answers signed, paid and admitted together, with the reason on screen when the answer is no. |
| Passes and memberships | WaiveonDay, punch-card, monthly and season passes from your Shopify product tags, each one a Shopify sale. The visits left are counted from check-ins. | ROLLERMemberships with automatic recurring payments, billed through ROLLER. | Why it mattersA pass is a product you already know how to sell, discount and report on in Shopify, and the gate counts the visits without anyone keeping a tally. |
| The signed record | WaiveonA sealed PDF and a certificate of completion, an RFC 3161 timestamp from an independent authority, and a hash-chained log of every step, kept for ten years or until a listed minor turns twenty-five. | ROLLERThe completed waiver is stored digitally and linked to the guest's booking record. | Why it mattersA record built to be produced years later: a certificate, an independent timestamp and a tamper-evident log, not a file attached to a booking. |
| Getting started | WaiveonInstall from the Shopify App Store, tag the products that sell passes, and print the signing page's QR code. A waiver can be signed the same afternoon. | ROLLERSet up with ROLLER's team, with an implementation package and a dedicated implementation manager available as an add-on. | Why it mattersThere is no implementation project to buy or schedule: a venue sets itself up in an afternoon and changes its own waiver text whenever it likes. |
ROLLER's column is taken from its own published pages, read on 2026-09-29: pricing, digital waivers, point of sale, memberships, party bookings, self-service kiosks, mobile check-in, professional services. Waiveon's is from its pricing page and what the app does today. If something here is out of date, write to support@waiveon.com and it will be corrected.
Questions
Do I have to leave ROLLER to use Waiveon?
Waiveon works with Shopify POS, not with ROLLER's point of sale. It is for a venue that sells through Shopify, or one choosing Shopify over a venue suite.
Does Waiveon sell tickets?
Tickets, passes and memberships are sold in Shopify, as products. Waiveon reads each order and turns the product's tag into a pass the desk can check.
What does a bike park use it for?
Riders sign on their phone before they arrive, or at a kiosk by the gate. The day ticket or season pass sold in Shopify POS is matched to the rider's waiver, and the desk scans one code to see both.
What does the desk see?
One scan turns the screen green, amber or red, with the reason spelled out: a waiver that is missing or expired, a pass with no visits left, or someone already checked in today.
